First-round schedule for 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship revealed

Langley United will make their CanChamp debut on May 10.

Langley United will take to the pitch on Mother’s Day to begin their first CanChamp campaign.

Canada Soccer have announced the full preliminary round schedule for the 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship, and the defending BCPL men’s champions learned that their match against Vancouver FC will be on Sunday, May 10 (3 p.m. PT).

Langley will play a local derby match against Canadian Premier League side Vancouver FC at Willoughby Stadium, a ground which both clubs call home.

They earned their first ever spot in the competition by winning last year’s BCPL (formerly League1 BC) championship, edging TSS Rovers by just one point at the top of the table. TSS Rovers represented the province in the 2025 Canadian Championship, losing a close battle with Valour FC.

Fourteen of the 15 clubs competing in this year’s tournament will play in the opening round, which runs from May 5 to May 10. Defending champions Vancouver Whitecaps have a bye to the quarterfinals.

The tournament begins on Tuesday, May 5, when Toronto FC host CPL champions Atlético Ottawa at BMO Field. The following day, CF Montréal will host defending Alberta Premier League champs Calgary Blizzard.

On Friday, May 8, FC Supra du Québec make their Canadian Championship debut against Ontario Premier League winners Woodbridge Strikers.

An all-CPL doubleheader on Saturday, May 9 features Forge FC versus the Halifax Wanderers and Pacific FC versus Cavalry FC.

Finally, the round will conclude on Sunday, May 10 as Inter Toronto host Ligue1 Québec’s CS Saint-Laurent and Vancouver FC host Langley United.

The Canadian Championship will continue to run over the next few months, with quarterfinals played in mid-July and semifinals in September. The final is currently set for Wednesday, Oct. 21.
