BCPL Women’s Title on the Line as Vancouver Rise FC Academy Eyes Historic First Championship
Altitude FC’s weekend defeat has left Rise one win away from the 2026 BCPL Women’s title
After spending much of the past two seasons locked in one of the BCPL’s most compelling rivalries, Vancouver Rise FC Academy now has the opportunity to finish the job.
This evening’s 6 p.m. match with TSS Rovers FC Women at Swangard Stadium carries championship implications after Altitude FC Women fell 1-0 to Langley United Women on Saturday. The result leaves Rise atop the BCPL standings on 33 points, two clear of Altitude with a match in hand.
It sets the stage for one of the biggest nights of the league season.
The title race has been defined by little separating the province’s top two sides. After finishing runner-up to Altitude in 2025, Rise has spent this season trading places at the top of the table with its rival, with every result carrying added significance as the campaign reached its closing weeks.
Now, after Altitude’s first defeat since early May, the momentum has shifted.
Rise enters tonight’s match having won 11 of its 12 league matches, scoring 35 goals while conceding just seven. Their only loss of the season came against Altitude, but they have responded with a string of consistent performances to put themselves within touching distance of club history.
Standing in their way is a TSS Rovers side still fighting for a strong finish of its own. Sitting fifth on 18 points, TSS Rovers remains level with fourth-place Langley United and has proven throughout the season it can compete with the league’s top clubs. Playing in front of what is expected to be one of the biggest crowds of the BCPL season, TSS will be eager to spoil the celebration on its home pitch.
For Rise, however, the opportunity is clear.
Ninety minutes separate the club from its first BCPL Women’s championship, capping a remarkable turnaround after last season’s near miss and completing a year-long pursuit of the title.
With first place, silverware and provincial bragging rights all on the line, this evening’s match promises to deliver one of the defining moments of the 2026 British Columbia Premier League season.
The match between TSS Rovers FC Women and Vancouver Rise FC Academy kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. PT at Swangard Stadium.
Should Vancouver Rise FC Academy clinch the title, the BCPL Women’s championship trophy will be presented on the field immediately following the match.
