With the 2026 British Columbia Premier League season in the books, BCPL Wrapped celebrates the players and coaches who made their mark throughout the campaign.

The year-end honours include the Men’s and Women’s Teams of the Year, alongside the league’s Most Valuable Players, U-20 Players of the Year, Coaches of the Year and Honourable Mentions.

2026 BCPL Women’s Team of the Year

Women’s U-20 Player of the Year & Most Valuable Player: Lacey Kindel

It was a standout year for Lacey Kindel, who headlines the 2026 BCPL Women’s honours after earning three year-end recognitions.

The 16-year-old Vancouver Rise FC Academy forward was named to the 2026 BCPL Women’s Team of the Year, while also taking home both U-20 Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player honours.

Kindel scored six goals across nine BCPL appearances and 642 minutes this season, helping Rise capture the 2026 women’s championship. Her performances also earned her opportunities at the professional level, where she appeared twice for Vancouver Rise FC in the Northern Super League, logging 50 minutes.

Women’s Coaches of the Year: Sam Gevaux & Esteban Mora

Vancouver Rise FC Academy’s Sam Gevaux and Esteban Mora have been named the 2026 BCPL Women’s Coaches of the Year after leading the club to its first women’s championship of the BCPL era.

Gevaux helped set the tone for Rise’s title-winning campaign, guiding the side to a perfect start with wins in each of its first four matches. Mora later took over as interim head coach and helped see the campaign through, with Rise clinching the championship with one match remaining following a 2-0 victory over TSS Rovers FC.

After finishing second in 2025, Rise went one better in 2026, pairing one of the league’s most dangerous attacks with one of its strongest defensive records to capture the title.

Men’s U-20 Player of the Year: Lucas Friend

Langley United’s Lucas Friend has been named the 2026 BCPL Men’s U-20 Player of the Year after playing a significant role in the club’s championship-winning campaign.

Friend, who recently turned 17, made 14 BCPL appearances and logged 1,004 minutes this season, scoring four goals as Langley captured its second consecutive men’s title.

The young midfielder also gained experience beyond the BCPL in 2026. Friend featured for Langley in the TELUS Canadian Championship and was named to Vancouver FC’s matchday squad as an unused substitute during Concacaf competition in February.

Men’s Most Valuable Player: Brody Thomas

Langley United’s Brody Thomas has been named the 2026 BCPL Men’s Most Valuable Player, adding the league’s top individual honour to his Team of the Year selection.

Thomas scored nine goals in just 10 BCPL appearances and 724 minutes, playing a key role in Langley’s run to a historic second consecutive league championship. He also represented the club in the TELUS Canadian Championship as Langley made its debut in the national competition.

Men’s Coach of the Year: Azad Palani

Langley United’s Azad Palani has been named the 2026 BCPL Men’s Coach of the Year after guiding the club to a historic second consecutive league championship.

Langley opened the season in dominant fashion, winning its first five matches without conceding a goal, and continued that form throughout the campaign to clinch the title with one regular season match remaining. In doing so, Langley became the first men’s club to win back-to-back BCPL championships.

Palani also led Langley onto the national stage in 2026, with the club representing the BCPL in its first-ever TELUS Canadian Championship appearance during its centennial year.
