Everything You Need to Know Ahead of the 2026 BCPL Season

It’s one week out from kickoff of the 2026 British Columbia Premier League season and a new era of semi-professional soccer in B.C. is about to begin.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of opening day.

The countdown is on: kickoff is almost here

The 2026 BCPL season begins on Thursday, April 2 with a women’s and men’s doubleheader at Burnaby Lake West. Burnaby FC Women take on TSS Rovers FC Women at 6 p.m. PT, before the men’s sides meet at 8:30 p.m. PT.

The rest of the league will follow over opening weekend, with the remaining teams across both divisions kicking off their seasons on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5.

Sixteen teams, one long road ahead

The 2026 BCPL season will be contested by 16 teams — eight women’s and eight men’s — over 15 weeks, with the regular season wrapping up on Sunday, July 5.

Every match carries weight in this relentless schedule. There is little room for error as teams look to build momentum and separate themselves in the standings.

New look, new era: BCPL steps into the spotlight

A major off-field shift defines 2026, as teams compete under the BCPL banner for the first time following an offseason rebrand from League1 BC.

While much remains the same on the pitch, the new identity is designed to place a greater spotlight on the players, clubs, and stories shaping the game across the province — brought to life through a more premium look and a visual identity rooted in the blue and gold of the B.C. flag.

The teams to beat in 2026

Altitude FC enters the new season as the benchmark on the women’s side after capturing the 2025 title, becoming the first club outside the Whitecaps FC Academy to lift the trophy.

On the men’s side, Langley United will look to defend its first league title — but with a full field chasing them, repeating won’t come easy. In 2025, they secured the title in dramatic fashion, converting a stoppage-time penalty on the final day to edge out TSS Rovers and finish just one point clear at the top of the table.

Their triumph also earned them a place in the 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship, where they will face Vancouver FC in the opening round.

With a new look, fresh storylines, and a full slate of talent across both divisions, the 2026 BCPL season is set to deliver from the very first kick.
