The 2026 British Columbia Premier League season wasted little time delivering high-level performances across the province.
Whether through attacking flair, veteran leadership or experience gained at the professional level, players across the BCPL immediately began making their presence felt during the league’s opening weeks. These three players stood out in April not only for their performances on the pitch, but for the unique journeys that brought them to this point in their careers.
Maximilian Comsia – Burnaby FC
Burnaby FC forward Maximilian Comsia opened the 2026 season looking confident, dangerous and difficult to contain in the attacking third.
The 20-year-old earned Team of the Week recognition twice during April, consistently creating opportunities through his pace, movement and willingness to attack defenders head-on. A North Vancouver native, Comsia developed through Mountain United FC before joining the Whitecaps FC Academy in 2019, later continuing his soccer journey with the University of British Columbia. Since arriving at Burnaby FC in 2025, the young forward has continued to grow into an important attacking piece for the club early in the BCPL season.
Wiz Chavula – Altitude FC
Few players embody consistency quite like Wiz Chavula.
Now in his fifth consecutive season with Altitude FC, the 23-year-old defender once again played a major role in helping stabilize the club during the opening month of the campaign. While dependable defensively, Chavula’s ability to contribute going forward has continued to make him one of the league’s more dynamic fullbacks, regularly joining attacking sequences and helping create momentum up the pitch. After helping lead Altitude FC to a league final appearance previously, his leadership and experience remain central to the club’s identity.
Ivan Mejia – Langley United
Mejia, 23, has already built an impressive soccer journey spanning the BCPL and the Canadian Premier League.
Born in Medellín, Colombia, the midfielder previously spent two seasons with TSS Rovers before earning a move to CPL side Vancouver FC midway through the 2023 season following a standout run of performances in the BCPL. Returning to the league with professional experience under his belt, Mejia immediately brought composure and creativity into Langley United’s midfield throughout April. His ability to control play, progress the ball forward and influence matches in key moments added another layer of quality to Langley’s strong start to the season.
One month into the 2026 BCPL campaign, players across the province have already begun establishing themselves as key figures within their clubs. Through different pathways and experiences, Comsia, Chavula and Mejia each delivered standout performances in April while helping showcase the quality and depth continuing to grow within the BCPL.
